Road trip to York in 2020 - Part 1 (University of York)

While we are in lockdown in UK, I thought of writing about my last trip to York in early March 2020 just weeks before Covid-19 virus spread as a wildfire across the country.

As my wife had an appointment in University of York in early week of March, I though we'll do a road trip together to York. We departed around 8.30 am in the morning to avoid the morning rush hours in motorways.

We manage to get to the University of York around 10.30 am. After dropping my wife for the appointment I struggle to find car parking space in the university. Although University of York had several big car parks on that day for some reason they were also most full.
After moving from one car park to another manage to find a car park with few spaces.

As my wife work take several hours, So I though of exploring the University of York while I was waiting for my wife. While walking around I came across several big ponds that interconnected with each other and that had lot of ducks.

Although it was gloomy day I enjoyed the walk around the University of York.

While walking around I came across a magnificent ancient building with a landscaped gardens, which is called Heslington Hall, which is a Grade II listed manor house that is owned by the university. Following are few clicks of it.

It was still early spring day, so the flowers have started to bloom, but I imagined there will be more flowers in summer time.

After walking around for several hours, my wife rang after finishing her work, so I cut my walk short went to meet her in University cafeteria as we both were hungry. We got some hot food from there and had a late lunch.

We were hoping to explore York next day, so booked an Airbnb for 2 nights. The place we booked was a Bungalow in Huntington area of York, just within 20 minutes drive from the university.
The airbnb was called "Red Oak Bungalow at Avago Farm Huntington York" that was maintained by a retired couple. We went there around 5pm after doing some food shopping on the way, Pat welcomed us to the place gave us all the information we need.
