Day Out In Bearstone Fruit Farm - Market Drayton 2020

It's the time of the year in UK for the strawberries. So we decided to visit the local fruit farm last week, which was a good decision.

There is no entry fee, you simply pick your fruits and the pay for the weight you have picked. From the stall next to the car park you can get free containers/ baskets to collect the fruits.

There were loads of strawberries ready to pick. Vibrant, Elegance, Cupid and Symphony are the strawberry varieties they had in the farm. Out of them Cupid strawberry variety seems to be more sweeter than others. Following are some clicks I took while picking strawberries.

Following is a small video clip I made while I was there,

The cost for the strawberries were very cheap, comparing to the supermarket prices. Also Bearstone Fruit Farm have card payment facility, so it's very convenient.

Bearstone Fruit Farm also have Raspberries, Tayberries, Blackcurrants, Blackberries but on the day we visit they had only strawberries & gooseberries only. Might visit them again in few weeks time for the Raspberries.

Please visit Bearstone Fruit Farm web site http://www.bearstonefruitfarm.co.uk/ for more details.

So rather than waiting for the restaurant to be open give it try on this quick recipe of Sri Lankan Egg roti / Biththara roti.

Road trip to York in 2020 - Part 3 (York)

After viewing the York Railway Museum, we decided to explore the ancient cathedral city of York. After a short walk form the Railway Museum we came across the ancient Roman wall. There is an entrance staircase to the York wall and decided to explore it. Below are some photos I took,

We walked on the part of York wall for around 15 minutes until we came to end where exit near the Skeldergate Bridge over river Ouse. The water level was high due to the storms that landed in UK several days ago, and seen several families of ducks with their chicks enjoying the sunny weather.

After walking another 10 minutes we came across a magnificent view of Clifford's Tower, the keep of York Castle.

Entrance to this is not free, I think it cost £6 per adult ticket. From the top you can view the surrounding York city clearly.

After several hours of walking around the city we felt tired and decided to walk back to the car and go to the airbnb place to have a rest. On the way we come across several parks with blooming flowers as it was early spring.

After resting that night, next morning we decided to cut our journey short and head back home as it was started to spread Covid-19 virus in UK. After one week returning from York, UK government decided imposed the lockdown in UK. Although we did not manage to explore all the places in York, we are thinking going to revisit York again once everything get back to normal.

Enjoy!
